Heart Of Darkness

In 3 words it speaks of our enslavement to the primal holy grail
called Love, the goddess that we long for & cry for & kill for &
die for. we are poets & dreamers & we steal from untamed
gardens mimosa & vervain & wysteria & plant them is scarlet
poems devoted to our blind devotion.

& lifetimes we spend, like brainless lemmings, in futile pursuit
of her elusive charms, the answer to all of life's questions, as we
imagine her to be. to break free would be pointless: there would
only be some other misconceived conception to ensnare us...

so pour me a whiskey & yourself as well & lift our glasses to
Love's mystery & sweet torment & the irrepressible struggle
that will surely kill us all...
